We are ecstatic to announce our first collaboration of 2022 with Boy Harsher in celebration of their latest project The Runner . Described by the group as “an exorcism,” The Runner features both a short film as well as an accompanying album produced by the group. Brain Dead Studios Fairfax is honored to play host to the film’s global premiere on Friday, January 14th with two show times at 5:30 and 7:00 PM. Formed in 2013, Boy Harsher is a Massachusetts based duo composed of vocalist Jae Matthews and producer Augustus Miller. Specializing in dark wave and new industrial, the two have been steadily releasing music since their first album in 2014. The Runner marks their 5th project and is heavily inspired by the emotional journey of Matthew’s multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2020. In her period of convalescence her mind was overrun with the idea of a character; a woman running through the woods. The pair developed that idea into the film while simultaneously viewing the project as an opportunity to break from their sonic tendencies. According to the group, “Those expecting a traditional release from Boy Harsher will be surprised, but not be disappointed.”
